Home Your Government City Departments Fire Department Fire Department About The City of La Vergne Fire Rescue Department is led by Fire Chief Ronny Beasley. The Department places a high emphasis on life, safety and fire prevention, along with a commitment to emergency responses for the City of La Vergne, its citizens and its guests. LFRD provides emergency responses to fire related emergencies, medical first responses, hazardous material incidents and other situations that the department may be able to aid in. Permits All burn permits are issued through the Fire Administration building which is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A commercial burn request must have an on-site inspection before issuance. Commercial burns include but aren't limited to: industrial burns, home building and land clearing. Training & Credentials The CIty of La Vergne Fire Rescue Department is committed to providing the best services possible. To ensure this standard is met the department requires each employee to maintain certain training standards and certifications. In addition to the minimum standards, specialized training is required for promotional positions within the department. Monthly training sessions are held to ensure the ISO requirements are maintained per the standards set forth. The Fire Rescue Department is a proud member of the Tennessee Commission on Firefighting and often hosts training sessions. History of the La Vergne Fire Department In 1965 the La Vergne Fire and Police Department, Inc. was founded by A.C. Wintermeyer and James Gafford as a privately owned company. They served the unincorporated area of La Vergne and portions of Rutherford County faithfully until 1972 when the city was established and began providing police services. Wintermeyer and Gafford continued to provide fire services to the City of La Vergne until December 31, 2013 when the city implemented their own municipal fire and rescue department.
